La Classic 2008

La Classique Du Quebec {French Open?????}Embarrassed

It is very interesting that this years La Classic in Montreal held titles in the Professional Open Latin and Standard that were titled "The French Open"!!!

Is not Montreal in the Province of Quebec? And Quebec is still part of Canada?

How can you have a French Open that is not held in France? This is rediculous!!

"The Le Classic" was Not Sanctioned by the Canadaian WDC Member the CDDSC. But the CDF who belong to the IPDSC!

Would the IDSF Professional division agree with this also? The CDf obviously does not mind if they use another countries title, if it sanctioned the event?

Surely the WDC and its Canadian member the CDDSC would not agree to such a title.

Would not any dancre association in France object to their title being used? Do they even know? Even if it is in a French speaking part.Embarrassed It still does not make it France!

The whole title seems a joke, and it seems that apart from Canada, nobody much else attended anyway.

When attending the French Open in Quebec, Canada I stopped to have a bite in a German restaurant.

I ordered Italian Pizza, with a Greek salad, some French Bread, and flushed it all with Czech Beer.  They had no Turkish coffee.

After I left a hefty tip, an elderly waitres wanted to give me a French kiss, which I declined.

I did not need to go to Greese, France, Italy, or Czech republic ,  I managed all of that in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Is it really so important  that a hunk of fermented flower is called a French stick, or that a tossed salad with some dressing is Greek etc  ??? Or that a disgusting localy made brew is called a Pilsener ?

Does it really matter who sanctioned La Classiquedequebec. It took place, it was grand. The weather was lousy, too much snow.

Any other observations, petty critique  ?

Does WDC need be in charge of everything ?  If CDF sanctioned it, and it is OK with IDSF,  what else do they need ?   Hasn't WDC crowned Warren  their World Amateur champion, was it approved by IDSF ?  What is your point ?  What is your Grief ?

At least I have a valid  grievance that I could not get  my Turkish Coffee,  but they had Irish Wink

"The whole title seems a joke, and it seems that apart from Canada, nobody much else attended anyway.  "

The whole title seems a joke, and it seems that apart from me all customers in this German restaurant were Chinese, nobody much else ... anyway.

By the way do you recall the World Trophy which took Place in Montreal last year ?   We did not considered this World Trophy  a joke.   It was a good attempt to make a go of it under a big title; they had mostly  finals with mostly Canadians...nobody talked  of failure  and made fun,  why would you ?

Please get your facts right , the WDC will hold its first World Amateur Championship in December 2008 as part of the WDC Amateur League. Therefore to claim that anyone is the current champion is inaccurate and misleading.

I agree with sambatogo.

The IDSF decided to have the French Open Championships in Canada???  How ridiculous can things get.  Was "France" consulted?

Can someone tell us how many couples from France competed?

I can tell you one thing.

THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE JUDGE FROM FRANCE!

And who sanctioned the French Professional Competitions?

The IDSF championships are becoming a total farce.

I don't really understand. Doesn't a championship for a country have to be held in that country? If not could Canada hold the British Championships in Toronto?

Good day Jive2004 Wink

sambatogo is right,  do not forget that beside IDSF and WDC there are others,  such as IUD.   Warren B. is  an IUD World Champion.

In defence of actions of LaClassiqueDeQuebec,  in my humble opinion the so called French Open Championship  was just one of many sub categories.

Some categories were named Senior Silver International Standard etc,  others were  Pr- Am,  one was FrenchOpen.

And why not ?  Quebec is recognized as a distict society,  the law in Canada states that road signs, labels need be in both Canadian official languages,  English and  French,  so why could not there be an English Challenge,  or French Challenge,  just as there are  Japanese activities in Japanese caltural centers ?

They did not refer to France,  such as France Open.   The term French  need not at all relate, and should not be associated with France.  Only France can hold their open,  of course.

There are so many weaknesses you pick on when feeling it is necessary to attack IDSF and their  sympathizers, why nit pick  on a name of a competition category ?  Let them call it Eskimo Challenge,  it sounds good,  and no eskimo will show.( Oh, yes, I forgot, the term eskimo is also not in favour these days ).

You are correct Jazz,  thank you for correcting me.  Waterboarding, not waterlogging  is what I meant.

To return the favour,   you probably meant   IDU when you wrote IUD, no ?

(IUD-inter uterine device Wink)

Best regards.
